The first (and the greatest) big summer blockbuster celebrates its 35th anniversary this year. The summer of 1989 was a monumental time for cinema, with Tim Burton’s Batman movie being the talk of the world. Its marketing campaign was legendary and is the reason why the modern ‘summer blockbuster’ now exists. To mark its amazing three and a half decades, the Barbican plays host to an incredible film in concert performance, accompanied by a live orchestra conducted by James Olmstead. This iconic score will be tremendous to hear live whilst watching Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson square off in Gotham City. A truly unmissable event that takes place at the end of May.
