North London artist Hilary Rosen MA.RCA. of Muswell Hill has been making the most of lockdown by capturing the beauty of the woodland scenes in Alexandra Palace Park.
“Although I have lived here for many years, I had never really explored this park which is right on my doorstep”, she said. Hilary continued: “I very much miss going to my studio in Bethnal green and teaching part-time at The City Lit, in Holborn”.
Hilary was awarded an MA from the Royal College of Arts and mainly exhibits her work at a gallery in Hamburg and with The Printmakers Council. She has had many exhibitions in the UK and worldwide, including India, Australia and Europe. She also has work in several public and private collections including The V&A, British Airways and Zeiss Collection in Hamburg.
Hilary went on to say that the clearer light and air inspired her to produce these parkscapes during her daily lockdown walks. These pieces are very different from her figurative, lively, and colourful studio works which have recently depicted ancient Greek myths and the domestic interiors of her childhood home in Maida Vale. She has also experimented with large scale embroideries interpreting stem cell research with scientists from Imperial College, London.
