Getting back to normal – are we nearly there yet?
In a year spent mostly at home, the most pressing question in our house as the schools broke up was “Will we go abroad on holiday?” I thought there was a tiny chance of that happening but as soon as I mouthed the words “Perhaps we could go to Spain after all” – BOOM – so many countries were back on the amber list. I then looked for holidays in the UK but it appears that so was everyone else. Trying to nudge the booking along to checkout took on a Harry Potter-esque appearance as they disappeared right before my very eyes! Plan B? With a long overdue visit to the outlaws up north, I’m seriously contemplating asking them to let us camp in their lovely back garden. Failing which I am on the lookout for a camper van to hit the road in!
After a difficult year for all students, I found out that GCSE & A-level results will be sent out by email. With so many other things cancelled including end of year proms, it’s sorrowful to see the chance to be with friends at a major stage of their lives has been taken away. I really hope that all those that have taken exams get the results they were aiming for. But in case they don’t and if they are finding things a struggle, please pass on this lovely Henry Ward Beecher quote “Ones best success comes after their greatest disappointment”
Onwards and upwards – I’ll catch up with you all again in the next issue!
