Wildwood Nature School in Dartmouth Park NW5 is a very small, independent primary school for children aged 4-11. We prioritise children’s well-being and spend most of our time outdoors.

Resonating with the dissatisfaction many parents feel towards the conventional education system, Wildwood Nature School was born to challenge outdated school norms. Inspired by Ken Robinson’s perspective on the need for educational reform, the school focuses on adapting to the evolving world, diverging from traditional structures.

Wildwood’s ethos centres on five core values: Well-being, Nature, Play, Community, and Empowerment. With a very high teacher to children ratio (1:5), building trusting relationships is at the core of what we do. Inspired by educational and psychological research, we use nonviolent communication, trauma-informed practices, and deliver a comprehensive well-being curriculum.

Children at Wildwood Nature School embrace nature, spending the majority of their week outdoors, following the Forest School principles and fostering a deep bond with the natural world. Play takes a central role, as we value its importance in learning and developing independence, resilience, and creative thinking. We emphasise community involvement, inviting families to actively engage and participate in the learning process.

Wildwood Nature School’s revolutionary approach aims to nurture confident, passionate learners, empowering them to think independently and contribute positively to the world.
