Exercise For The Shielding

During the Pandemic, it has been very difficult to keep up our exercise routines, and even more so for the ‘Shielding’.

It is still important to try and keep ourselves active, especially if you are shielding as our pre-lockdown day to day activities were helping to keep us physically active.

Physical activity helps to keep our Heart and Lungs fit, our Muscles and Bones strong and improve our Mental Health.

We can keep physically active at home, by using the space and objects already in our homes.

Here are some simple tips:

– Sit and stand from a chair

– Walking up the stairs a number of times through the day

– Marching on the spot

– Heel Raises (onto your toes)

– Chest Press against the wall

– Arm Curls / Side Arm Raises (use tins of beans)

When exercising, aim to get a little breathless but still be able to talk. Keep the floor clear no trip hazards, wear trainers and comfortable clothes.

Before starting an exercise program or if your medical condition changes you must have medical clearance from your doctor.

Every Friday 10.30am I have an online exercise class contact me for details.

Keep active!
