A bakery that enables all abilities

CJ’s is s a new not-for-profit bakery that doesn’t only make delicious bread, cakes and other goodies but also offers meaningful work for adults with a learning disability.

Based in Finchley, it was launched this year by Sian Chadwick and her son CJ – Chef James – a 22-year-old who has Down’s Syndrome. Their aim is to create real, relevant employment and training for adults with learning disabilities.

 

They currently work with nine regular chefs who have a range of disabilities. Many more are keen to join the team to learn baking skills, make friends and enjoy the positive atmosphere in the kitchen.

The bakery, which has a five-star hygiene rating, produces tasty sourdough loaves and quiches as well as sweet and savoury buns, brownies, cookies and cakes. There are gluten-free and vegan options, too.
