Growing Together: How Volunteers Are Transforming Firs Farm
Since 2015, Friends of Firs Farm have been on a mission to transform the wetlands and park into a thriving green space for the whole community to enjoy. Their latest achievement? Planting 400 tree whips with the help of local parents and children. This impressive effort not only enhances the natural beauty of the area but also supports local wildlife and creates a peaceful retreat for visitors.
The Friends of Firs Farm is a small but dedicated group of trustees and volunteers who work tirelessly to maintain and improve the wetlands. From planting trees to organising community events, their efforts have made a real difference—but they can’t do it alone.

We’re always on the lookout for new volunteers who are passionate about preserving this special space. Right now, we’re especially keen to hear from people who can help us plan and run fundraising events. These events play a crucial role in keeping Firs Farm flourishing and ensuring it remains a welcoming place for everyone.
If you’d like to be part of this rewarding work, whether by getting your hands dirty or helping behind the scenes, we’d love to hear from you. Together, we can continue to grow and nurture this wonderful community space.
