Alternative Rock Group Kick

Kick

An act which caught the eye of the audiences of The Best of Muswell Hill festival was Kick. Kick is a London-based Alternative Rock band, formed fully in January 2023. Their rep consists entirely of raw, emotional originals, topped off with an energetic and infectious stage presence. Their influences include a wide variety of artists such as The Smiths, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Sunny Day Real Estate and Suede.

“The songs revolve around lost love, sex and general teenage angst. And yet it’s dealt with such swagger and attitude that it’s hard not to get wrapped up in it all. Teenage problems have never felt more important than when Kick sing about them.” – Alison McLeod-Clarke. Since forming, Kick have played in venues such as the O2 Academy Islington, High Tide Festival’s Main Stage (as well as the Basement Door stage), The Lexington and Camden Assembly at the Camden Rocks Festival. The band released their first single (Like You Said) on the 23rd June 2023 reaching 4,000 streams within 2 months. As well as this, Kick’s release gig for the single- which they held at The Camden Club- sold out and received a glowing review. They are currently in the process of the writing and recording of their debut EP to be released in January 2024. With a growing social media following and fan base, the future is promising for this young band.

Music in the Gardens at Muswell Hill Methodist Church

Music in the Gardens at Muswell Hill Methodist Church

Are you all set for a tuneful summer? Music in the Gardens returns to Muswell Hill Methodist Church on Pages Lane every Sunday in July, and this year we’ve got an exciting line-up featuring a range of bands to suit lots of different tastes. We kick off on Sunday 2 July with the Red River Band, who’ll be playing ceilidh classics – come and dance along. On 9 July it’s the turn of the Life and Mission Choir – containing some of our church members – singing songs about faith plus hits from the West End and original songs.

London Metropolitan Brass are always a popular choice and they return on 16 July. We’re looking forward to a debut for the English Jazz Orchestra on 23 July. And finally, on 30 July, Megan and Robert Brady return for Rock in the Gardens – playing hits from the Beatles to Johnny Cash. As always, these events are free and everyone is welcome. No booking required. Gates open at 2pm and music starts at 3pm. If it’s wet we just move inside. Refreshments will be on sale and you’re welcome to bring a picnic. Toilets, including accessible toilets, and baby change are available. Please note: no alcohol or dogs.
